![]() Display Link driver v.5.4 from synaptics from Apr 6th 2021Īttached the latest updates as a text file (excerpt from /var/log/apt/history.log): Start-Date: 18:16:46Ĭommandline: aptdaemon role='role-commit-packages' sender=':1.1473'.Ubuntu 20.04 LTS with last update of Aug 15th.USB-C Dock of HP connected to USB-C/Thunderbolt of my ASUS ROG G752 VS.Logitech Sound connected analogly to the small jack of the USB-C Dock.ASUS ROG G752 VS running Ubuntu 20.04 LTS.Two FULL HD monitors connected via DisplayPort and link to the USB_C dock. But the problem seems to lie deep in the system, I assume of the kernel or its display link module. I also tried ARandR to exclude system internal software tooling problems. But if I turn off any of the monitors (so regardless whether internal or externally attached to the usb-c dock) it freezes. I varied switching the main monitor to one of my main (external) displays, which works. So I cannot even run a terminal hitting "Ctrl-Alt-F".Īfter system freezes nothing works and you have to turn off the computer by pressing "on" for 4 seconds. Now my internal monitor is also detected and I cannot turn it off (either by setting it to "off" on Display settings or by just closing the laptop's lid, the system freezes (You see the monitors with a frozen mouse pointer, and no keyboard). After the rebooting external monitors were detected nearly like before. So I downloaded today the latest Display Link drivers from here (I followed all steps). Till yesterday's update everything worked fine, after the update, Display link drivers did not work. I am using a HP USB-C Docking Station for my external periphery devices (USB keyboard and mouse, Audio, Ethernet and 2 External monitors via Displaylink driver), so that I can easily switch between my working laptop running windows 10 and my UBUNTU laptop (ASUS ROG G752VS). The installation process does not seem to be very stable. I followed that deinstall instructions withĪnd rebooted afterwards every time. ![]() So at least the system is now complete broken. ![]() Drivers 5.2 and 5.3 install/deinstall and reinstall to 5.4 has lead to a system, where external monitors are not detected anyway. Will try now 5.3 and 5.2 (even this is not for UBUNTU 20.04). No Monitors externally are detected! So less functionality! I tried this version as well, 'cuz I installed the last working version somewhere in the first half of 2020. Removing and replacing the CMOS battery may help.I also tried the Displaylink driver version 5.3.1 from 5th of may 2020.If you have double boot with Windows, that would be good for a comparison. (Strange hardware issues may be the culprit). It is very strange that the commands you posted do not even show your main graphics card. ![]() Given that you have WSL2, you should get the corresponding drivers.įor a guide on how to install, please refer to Can anyone maybe point me to what went wrong here? For example when I input sudo prime-select nvidia the output is simply Error: no integrated GPU detected. So I have followed the instructions here as recommended, but I still cannot connect to the GPU. ACPI: Added _OSI(Linux-Lenovo-NV-HDMI-Audio).Headless machine? tty: 120x30 Message: No advanced graphics data found on this system. Display: server: No display server data found. Graphics: Message: No Device data found.Perhaps I should also specify that I am using a Windows subsystem for Linux. Does anyone have suggestions on how I could proceed? Also ran lspci -k | grep -A 2 -i "VGA", no outputĬhecking these appears to be the first step in the solution proposed by contributors online, but I can't even get this first step running.Another suggestion was to run sudo lshw -C video, again no output.lspci | egrep -i "vga|display|3d" was suggested as well, but no luck. The first suggestion appears to be to run lspci -v | grep VGA which when I run it in the Ubuntu terminal give no output. My main problem is that I can't see any output when running the suggested commands. So I have been trying to get my nVidia GPU detected by Ubuntu 20.04 for quite some time now, and none of the suggestions I have found online have helped.
